Born in Texas, Bobby began his career as a guitarist and vocalist and was a member of Sugarloaf with the hit “Green Eyed Lady.” He moved to LA and took up bass and played with many artists such as Etta James, Chuck Berry, Greg Allman, Eddie Money and Van Morrison. From his roots in R&B and soul he developed a funky style and groove and laid the foundation for the powerful rhythm section of Detective. His distinctive voice is heard on backup vocals and harmonies. He lives in LA and is active in the music scene.
Michael was born in LA and as a teenager he was the lead guitarist in Steppenwolf. His heavy-metal crunch guitar drove the sounds on their world-wide chart-topping hits such as “Born to be Wild” and “Magic Carpet Ride.” He went on to record with Janis Joplin on Kosmic Blues. He brought his unique technique of playing guitar playing to the sound of Detective. He resides in Florida and is currently a member of the World Class Rockers.
Born in England, Michael trained as an actor at the Corona Theatre School of Arts, London. He was cast in the 1967 classic film To Sir With Love starring Sidney Poitier and he was the lead singer Silverhead . With a voice described as resonant and soulful, he was a flamboyant front man in Detective. He resides in California and is currently a DJ on Steven Van Zandt’s Steven’s Underground Garage, a nationally syndicated Rock and Roll radio show.
Born in Boston, Jon was the lead singer and drummer in the 70’s band Hocus Pocus along with Michael Monarch as guitarist. As a lyrists and song writer, he and Monarch formed a close partnership. He joined Detective as a drummer and back up vocalist and brought a distinctive drum sound to the heart of the band that’s been described as thunder played with air, funk and groove. He lives in Los Angeles close the music scene that drew him to the city in the late 60’s.
